Jesse (Jay) L. West, IV, MD

Jay West, MD  joined our practice in August 2009. He is a native of Asheville, graduating from Asheville Christian Academy. He received his B.S. in Biology at UNC Chapel Hill and his M.D. at Duke University School of Medicine. He completed his surgical internship at Duke and his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics. He then completed an Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama with Drs. James Andrews, William Clancy, Lyle Cain and Jeff Dugas.

His additional training focused on the latest arthroscopic treatment of shoulder instability, rotator cuff tears, cartilage injuries and knee ligament injuries. He also specializes in arthroscopic and open treatment of the elbow including the “Tommy John” procedure.

Dr. West, his wife Emily and their two children enjoy the outdoors and serving in church and community organizations.
